Quite an FO potpourri today: a woven scarf, throw pillows, a sweater, and a dachshund. First up, Linda’s amazing scarf woven of her own handspun (!) yarn with our SWTC Xie as the warp. Linda has stated on more than one occasion that she’s out to turn knitters and crocheters into weavers. This scarf could make her job much, much easier. It was so pretty I couldn’t stop photographing it:
In the top photo, by the way, our mannequin, Maude, is wearing a stunning new sweater made by Carolyn Kern. It’s a model for her October class, My First Sweater. The pattern is the new fitted version of Knitting Pure & Simple’s classic “Neckdown Pullover for Women.” The yarn is Debbie Bliss Rialto Aran, which got two thumbs up from Carolyn, one for being great to work with and the other for being just as great to look at.
Alice brought in the first two pillows from a yarn palette she chose to coordinate with her living room’s color scheme. After our recent home-dec trunk show from Classic Elite Yarns, we’ve got pillows on the brain, so it was great to see how easy it is to get quick, fantastic results from a simple pattern and a great yarn.
Doxie the Dachshund will definitely be here with us in the shop through the summer. He’s knit from the dangerously cute Dangercrafts pattern for “Tofu the Gentle Dachshund.” No promises, however, that once he goes to visit Jill’s two-week old granddaughter Ella that he’ll ever be back. Yes, he is that cute.
These last two pictures are not from a Finished Object. They are teasers for Carolyn Kern’s September class, Introduction to Stranded Knitting: Reversible Cowl. This is an entirely new, original design Carolyn is creating for her class, equally good for knitters new to Fair Isle techniques as someone who has worked color knitting before and is ready for some fine tuning.
Since I’ve mentioned two upcoming classes now, I’m off to put the finishing touches on that September/October class calendar. Look for an email shortly. If you’re not on our email list, you can sign up today at www.goshyarnitshop.com.
Speaking of September and October, there is plenty of summer left. To celebrate summer while it’s more than a memory, we’re putting some of our favorite warm weather yarns on sale: Kollage Corntastic and Creamy, Classic Elite Pebbles and Sprout, Gedifra Pertinio, Järbo Garn Tropik, and Tahki Mia. How does a cool 35% off sound? Now through Labor Day Weekend.
