2 Afternoon Sessions: INTRO to SOCKS KNIT on DOUBLE POINT NEEDLES with Laurie Anson

August 11 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm


If you can knit and purl, Laurie can teach you the basics of sock knitting on a sample size sock. You’ll learn all the steps to get you started confidently knitting socks. You will be using double point needles to cast on for the cuff, join in the round, knit a heel flap, and close off the toe. Required skills: you must be able to work the knit and purl stitch. Knowing how to decrease is helpful, but not required. You will need to bring a set of US Size 7/4.5mm double point needles and worsted weight yarn.

NOTE: This is a 2-session class. The second meeting will be Thursday, August 18, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Laurie’s class will also be offered in the morning, August 11 & 18, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Unless otherwise noted, basic knitting skills are required to attend our classes. You should know how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off. If you’d like help mastering the fundamentals before taking a class, please inquire about our Intro to Knitting classes.


Payment is due at registration. Fees are non-refundable unless class is cancelled by Gosh Yarn It! Withdrawals will be accepted with 2 weeks advance notice and store credit will be issued for class fee. If less than 2 weeks notice is given, store credit will be given only if we can fill your space in the class with another student.


Gosh Yarn It! reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes that do not meet the required minimum enrollment of 3 students; class fees can be be refunded or held as store credit to be used for enrollment in future classes or private instruction. Any class cancelled due to inclement weather will be re-scheduled.


Unless otherwise noted, materials are not included in class fees.


Registrants receive a 10% discount on all in-stock supplies required for classes. To avoid disappointment with your finished product, we suggest you purchase all your class materials at GYI.


It may be helpful to bring basic notions to class, including scissors, round and locking stitch markers, a small crochet hook (“fixer”), and a darning needle.


Please purchase supplies and wind yarn prior to class. If this is not possible, please arrive in plenty of time before session begins to do so. A yarn winder and swift are available for student use.
